2012 Obama Republicans

Happy Birthday, Simpsons!

„The next value I speak of must be forever cast in stone. I speak of decency, the moral courage to say what is right and condemn what’s wrong, and we need a nation closer to the Waltons than the Simpsons. An America that rejects the incivility, the tide of incivility and the tide of intolerance“. — President George H. W. Bush // Jan. 27 1992 // in a speech during his re-election campaign

„Hey, we’re just like the Waltons. We’re praying for an end to the Depression, too.“ — Bart Simpson // in response to President Bush // Episode: Stark Raving Dad

Ralph Wiggum for President! Ob Cameos von Clinton, Bush, Dole, Carter, ob Seitenhiebe auf den eigenen Schwesterkanal Fox New („Fox News: ‚Not Racist, But #1 With Racists“), ob die Thematisierung des Konflikts zwischen Evolution und Kreationismus (The Monkey Suit) oder einfach wiedergeborene Frömmler wie Ned Flanders („I wish we lived in a place more like the America of yesteryear that only exists in the brains of us Republicans.“) – die Simpsons und ihre, nun ja, doch eher progressiven Autoren waren immer politisch, immer subsersiv, immer gesellschaftskritisch.

Hoffentlich!
